
Burdin mill
Intended exclusively to grind grain, this mill with horizontal wheels was bought back in 1996 by the municipality of Saint Martin of Belleville. After two years of restoration, it shelters from now on an exposure in two parts,
the first proposes a historical and technical approach mills,
the second is entitled "from the grain to the bread" and recalls the various stages of the culture of cereals to the manufacture of the bread.
The complete restoration of the Mill was articulated around three elements: the building, the interior mechanism and the part of the external water circuit. Today, the mechanism functions like in the past allowing to keep in memory the gestures of passed and the forgotten traditions.
From the beginning of July to the end of August 2007, on Wednesdays and Fridays, the mill will be open from 9.30 am to 12 noon with two visits with accompanying guide at 10 am and 11 am, which give the possibiliy to see the old renovated mechanism function.
