Région des Lumières Festival

From July 26 to August 17, 2025, as part of the Région des Lumières Festival in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region, the Sanctuaire Notre-Dame-de-la-Vie in Saint-Martin-de-Belleville will be transformed into an evening spectacle combining Baroque art, alpine legends, and visual creativity.

A baroque jewel illuminated

Listed as a Historic Monument, the Sanctuaire Notre-Dame-de-la-Vie has reigned over the valley since the 17th century. This important pilgrimage site, listed on the Chemins du Baroque, is home to one of the oldest altarpieces in the Tarentaise Valley and is a legacy of the spiritual fervour of the Alps in times gone by.

From July 26 to August 17, 2025, every evening, its walls will be transformed into a dynamic canvas thanks to a 15-minute immersive video mapping show with sound. Seventeen scenes will bring to life the founding myths, forgotten voices, and landscapes of the Vallée des Belleville. The show is free to watch and is projected on a loop from dusk until 11.30pm.

Festival highlights

In addition to the daily projections, the festival includes several storytelling evenings. The show is entitled 'Quand la nuit tombe - Veillée au sanctuaire' (When Night Falls - Evening at the Sanctuary) and invites both young and old to follow Paul, an old shepherd from the valley, on a journey of poetry and theatre. It is produced by the theatre company 'En Visite Simone'.
